An atmospheric scientist at Colorado State University, Dr. Phil Klotzbach, has issued an early forecast of 16 named storms, eight hurricanes and four major hurricanes for the year 2020. He predicts an above average chance for major hurricanes making landfall along the continental U.S.
The predictions are partly based on the absence of El Nino conditions this summer and fall. El Nino conditions tend to tear apart hurricanes.
For Connecticut, Dr. Klotzbach and his team predict 10% chance of a hurricane making landfall and a 2% chance of a major hurricane making landfall.
